House Design
What does your dream home look like? Here is your chance to design your very own single level house. You will draw the floor plan to scale (1cm = 1m). You will need to decide on the size of the rooms and layout of your home. The only limitations for this will be the total area of the house, your budget and imagination. Your budget for this project is $1 250 000 (less tax) which must cover the house, section, furnishings and landscaping.

Requirements:
- Your house floor plan should be around about 200-250m2.
- It must be a single level home.
- It must contain at least three bedrooms (including a master).
- It must contain a double garage.
- Your section must have some landscaping.
Check Points:
- Complete the ‘Approximate Room Calculation’ Sheet.
- Create a scale drawing of your design on grid paper.
- Create a scale model of your design (on cardboard).
- or
- Create a computer generated scale plan of your design (Floorplanner).
- Complete the House Purchases Spreadsheet in Google Classroom.
Tasks to complete
- Complete the approximate room calculation sheet
- Buy a section
- Design your house on grid paper
- Carefully cut the design outline out
- Place it on a copy of your sections
- Work out the total area and cost of (house, deck, concrete, garden, grass and fences) write this on the back of your section.
- Label the rooms and Colour the section in neatly.
- Use the House purchases Spreadsheet (google classroom) to record your costs.
- Make a list of all the things you need to buy for each room.
- Find the items that you need for the rooms, add them (with links) to the House purchases spreadsheet.
Building Costs
- House = $2500m2
- Deck = $250 m2
- Swimming Pool (8m x 4m) = $60 000 (fibreglass)
- Driveway = $100 m2 (concrete), $150 m2 (pavers)
- Garden = $25 m2
- Lawn = $10 m2
- Fence = $150 per lineal m
- Tennis Court = $80 000 (12m x 30m)
